Hi there. We’re

, a website to help raise money for New York restaurants and their employees while they’re closed. Below are recipes from these restaurants, each one made by a different illustrator or designer. Click the recipe to download, and make a donation directly to the restaurant’s staff fund. Cook a few and eat your way around New York from home, or send one to a friend and pretend you’re ordering dinner together at your favorite spot. Make one of them or all of them—just donate, download, cook something new, and support some places that make New York special. You can read more here or sign up here for updates. Update: We’re closed for submissions! We’re making a printed book of all the recipes, with all proceeds going to New York restaurant workers.

FIND OUT WHEN THERE’S NEW STUFF TO COOK
We’ll keep posting recipes as we get them. Give us your email and we’ll let you know whenever a new batch goes up.

Do you want all of the recipes as a physical printed book? We do, too. Now you can preorder a printed book of all the recipes (even the ones that don’t exist yet). 100% of proceeds will go to ROAR’s employee relief fund for New York City restaurants. So now there are two ways to support: download a recipe and donate directly to the restaurant, and order a book of all the recipes and donate to lots of New York restaurants.

Pre-Order — $35.00
THE BOOK
8.5 inches x 11 inches
Softcover
Full-color printing
Approx. 50-80 pages
$35.00 (including shipping in the US)
DONATION
Like all parts of Family Meal, the book is pro bono, with all proceeds going to the employee relief fund. The math generally works like this:

     $35   THE PRICE
-    $10-15   COST TO PRINT EACH BOOK
-    $4   COST TO SHIP EACH BOOK
_______________________
=    $17-21   DONATION FOR EVERY BOOK SOLD

Depending on how many orders we get and the final page count, the cost to print each copy might decrease, and the donation amount will increase.
WAIT, SHOULD I GET RECIPES INDIVIDUALLY OR GET ALL OF THEM IN THIS BOOK?
The short answer is both! Each recipe on the site links to the restaurants’ staff fund, and donations go directly to that restaurant. But not every New York restaurant will be on Family Meal! Ordering the book is making a donation to an employee relief fund organized by ROAR, an organization by and for the New York City restaurant community. Their fund can help restaurants all over the city.
TIMING
We are no longer taking submissions for recipes. We’re printing the book! We hope to be done printing in October and start mailing books out in November. If you’re pre-ordering a book, don’t worry—we’ll email you when we’re ready to ship and make sure we have the correct mailing address.
